Details

Originally created for London’s most prestigious department stores, the Cross Stitch Duvet Cover was designed to bring something truly special to the bedroom. Introduced in the 1980s by Peter Reed as a refined alternative to the traditional five-row cord, it features a unique pattern crafted using a specialist machine that allows for exceptional precision and detail. Decorative yet versatile, this design lends a subtle vintage charm that pairs beautifully with antique furniture, opulent fabrics, and rich colour palettes. Crafted in England and available in all of Reed’s plain dye colours, this Oxford-style duvet cover is a beautiful way to dress the bed with heritage and intention.

  • Decorative yet versatile, complements antique furniture, luxurious fabrics, and bold, rich tones.
  • Crafted with precision, the intricate pattern on this duvet cover is achieved using advanced machinery that ensures exceptional accuracy and detail.
  • Oxford flange on 3 sides and bottom button closing with reinforced shoulders to prevent tearing during bedmaking.
  • Available in all of Reed’s plain dye colours, ideal for styling with matching pillowcases and sheets.
  • Complete the full Cross Stitch collection bed linen set with a pair of Oxford style or standard pillowcases, and fitted or flat sheets to match.
  • Available in both percale or sateen fabric weaves.

Care

CARE FOR YOUR LINEN

Our bed linens are made from the finest fabrics and finished to the highest possible standard and in order to retain this quality for many years, it is important to follow these simple instructions:

Washing

  • Machine washable at 40°C

Always read and follow the washing instructions on the care label stitched into all our bed linen. Separate white, light and dark items. Avoid washing powders that contain optical brighteners; these can cause colours to fade and become patchy over time. Beauty products have a detrimental affect on your linens as they contain bleaching agents and can cause permanent colour loss. Never wash at a higher temperature than recommended as this can cause the overall fabric to permanently shrink and lose its surface quality.

Drying and Ironing

All our bed linens can be tumble dried on a cool setting, but it is important to remove them as soon as the programme has finished to minimise creasing. Ironing the bed linen with a steam iron while slightly damp will produce the crispest finish. Embroidered items should be turned inside out to iron as this will raise the embroidery and lessen the chance of catching the stitching.

Fabric Weave Options

Percale or Sateen?

The terms Percale and Sateen refer to different types of weave and construction of sheeting fabrics and the easiest way to understand the difference is by comparing the two:

Percale is crisp, cool, and breathable. Woven in a one-over-one-under pattern, it has a matte finish and a lightweight feel, making it ideal for warmer sleepers or summer nights.

Sateen is smooth, silky and slightly warmer than a percale weave. Woven with more threads on the surface (usually three-over-one-under), it has a soft sheen and a gentler drape, perfect if you prefer a slightly heavier, more luxurious feel.

Once both cloths are woven, finished and sewn into bed linen, each will have the same thread count and the same weight, but the finish and surface handle of each fabric will be different because of the distinct constructions.
